Terms of use

Postulio (Nokaris Lab) terms of use: account, acceptable use, plans and payment, intellectual property, liability, Quebec law and consumer rights.

These terms of use (the "Terms") form a contract between you and Nokaris Lab (opens in a new tab) ("we"), whose head office is in Quebec. Postulio is a product of Nokaris Lab, which operates it.

By creating an account or using the Postulio website and related services (the "Service"), you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

Consumer rights. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits the rights that the law guarantees to consumers, including those under Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act. Any clause that would be contrary to those rights cannot be enforced against you.

1. Eligibility and account

1.1 Age

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use Postulio.
  • If you have not reached the age of majority, you represent that a parent or guardian has authorized your use of the Service.

1.2 Your account

By creating an account, you agree to:

  • provide accurate information and keep it up to date;
  • keep your password confidential;
  • notify us without delay of any unauthorized access, at support@postulio.ca;
  • not create multiple accounts to get around plan limits or the free trial.

You are responsible for activity carried out with your account, unless it results from a failure on our part. We recommend turning on two-factor authentication in Settings > Security.

2. Acceptable use

You agree to use Postulio for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. In particular, you agree not to:

  • falsify a resume, an application or your qualifications;
  • impersonate another person;
  • harass, threaten or deceive employers or recruiters;
  • upload viruses, malicious code, or unlawful, hateful or discriminatory content;
  • upload other people’s personal information without their consent;
  • infringe third parties’ intellectual property rights;
  • attempt to access the Service without authorization, compromise its security or disrupt its operation;
  • extract data by automated means, decompile or reverse engineer the Service;
  • get around plan usage limits or quotas.

If you breach these rules, we may suspend or close your account (see section 9).

3. The Service

3.1 What Postulio does

Postulio provides:

  • job alerts: postings read from employer career pages and job sites, or posted by employers after review, a match score with your profile and an email digest of new postings;
  • a CV Studio: a resume tailored to a posting, an ATS score and document export;
  • assisted cover letter writing;
  • job posting analysis;
  • import of existing resumes;
  • application tracking, with follow-up reminders;
  • tools (LinkedIn headline and summary, posts, pitch, follow-up email);
  • a conversational assistant on the site.

Postulio never submits an application on your behalf: you decide on each application and send it to the employer yourself.

3.2 What Postulio does not do

  • Postulio does not guarantee a job, an interview or a response from an employer.
  • Postulio is not an employer, a recruiter or a placement agency, and does not represent you to employers.
  • Employers are independent third parties; their hiring decisions are not ours.
  • Job postings come from external sources. We do not control their accuracy or availability.
  • Content produced by artificial intelligence is a suggestion: you must review it and check its accuracy before using it (see section 3.4).

3.3 Availability

We strive to keep the Service available, but it may be interrupted for maintenance, updates or because of an outage, including at our providers. We may change, add or remove features; if a change significantly reduces a paid plan you subscribe to, section 10 applies.

3.4 Generated documents: you are their author and you are responsible for them

Postulio is a writing aid. The resumes, cover letters, emails, LinkedIn texts and other content it produces at your request ("generated documents") are suggestions drafted from the information you provide.

You are the author of the documents you use. You decide whether to review, edit, keep, download or send a generated document, and you are the one who sends it to an employer or publishes it. Before you do, you agree to:

  • read it in full and check every piece of information;
  • correct or remove anything that is inaccurate, exaggerated or does not reflect you;
  • make sure it complies with the law and respects the rights of others.

You answer for its content. You alone are responsible for the accuracy and truthfulness of what you send or publish: experience, dates, degrees, titles, skills, figures, language proficiency, work authorization. Presenting false or misleading information to an employer may be held against you, including after you are hired.

What the AI does, and its limits. Artificial intelligence can make mistakes, leave information out, misread a job posting or make a claim your background does not support. Postulio instructs it not to invent anything, but cannot guarantee it, and does not verify the truthfulness of the information you provide.

What is indicative. Compatibility scores, ATS scores, job posting analyses and recommendations are estimates meant to help you decide. They do not predict an employer’s decision or the outcome of screening software.

What Postulio is not. Postulio does not provide legal, tax or immigration advice and does not practise the profession of guidance counsellor. The human sessions included in the Premium plan (mentoring, resume review, mock interview) are advice: the decisions remain yours.

This section does not release us from the consequences of our own fault, for example if a defect in the Service altered a document after you approved it.

4. Plans, payment and cancellation

4.1 Plans

  • Free: $0, limited features, no payment method required.
  • Pro: $39 CAD per month.
  • Premium: $89 CAD per month. Premium includes the Pro features and one human session per month, your choice of mentoring, resume review or mock interview. The session must be used in the current month and does not carry over to the next month.
  • Organization: custom quote, under a separate agreement.

Prices are in Canadian dollars, plus applicable taxes (GST/HST and, in Quebec, QST). The features of each plan are listed on the pricing page.

4.2 Free trial

  • Pro can be tried free for 7 days, once per account. A credit card is required to start the trial; nothing is charged during the trial.
  • Three days before the trial ends, an email reminds you of the date and amount of the first charge. You can cancel before that date from the Billing page, at no cost.
  • Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the monthly subscription starts: the first month is charged on that date, then every month.
  • Premium has no trial: it includes a session with a coach, available from the first paid month.
  • At the end of the trial, without a subscription, the account returns to the Free plan.

4.3 Billing

  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We neither receive nor store your card number.
  • The subscription is billed every month on the anniversary of the subscription date and renews automatically until cancelled.
  • Your receipts and invoices are available from your account or sent by email.
  • If a payment fails, Stripe may retry the charge. If payment does not go through, the subscription may be suspended and then cancelled, and the account may return to the Free plan.

4.4 Cancellation and refunds

  • You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account, with no cancellation fee.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid monthly period; you keep access to the plan until then.
  • No prorated refund is given for a period already started, except where required by law.
  • For any billing question, write to billing@postulio.ca from your account’s email address.

4.5 Price changes

Any price increase is announced to you under section 10. It does not apply to a period already paid. If you refuse it, you can cancel your subscription at no cost before it takes effect.

4.6 Referrals and recommendations

Referrals. Each account has a personal link that you share yourself; Postulio never writes to the people you invite.

  • The invited person, if they have never subscribed nor had a trial, gets a 14-day Pro trial (instead of 7) and then 50% off their first paid month.
  • You receive $10 of credit, applied automatically to your next invoices, 14 days after their first real payment. These credits are capped at $150 per 12-month period.
  • Tiers, once each: 3 people subscribed through your link, one free Pro month ($39 of credit); 5, one Premium month ($89); 10, Ambassador status and two Premium months ($178).
  • No credit is granted if the invited person pays with the same card as you. A refund or dispute of their payment within 30 days cancels the corresponding credit.

Recommendations. You can recommend Postulio to an employer or an organization, with the agreement of the person contacted. We write to them only once, naming you, with no follow-up; they can refuse any further introduction. If the employer publishes their first approved job offer, you receive $10 of credit. If the organization signs an agreement, you receive three months of Premium for free, on top of your plan, with no billing.

Common rules. Credits have no cash value, are neither refundable nor transferable, and end when the account is closed. Abuse (multiple accounts, false identities, unsolicited sending) cancels rewards and may lead to the account being closed. Program terms may change under section 10; rewards already earned remain earned.

5. Intellectual property

5.1 What belongs to us

The Service, its software, interface, text, logos and the Postulio brand belong to Nokaris Lab (opens in a new tab) or its licensors. These Terms transfer none of these rights to you; they only grant you the right to use the Service.

5.2 What belongs to you

You remain the owner of your content: resumes, cover letters, documents, profile information and messages. We claim no ownership over them.

You grant us a non-exclusive licence, limited to what is needed to provide the Service: storing your content, displaying it in your account, processing it to produce the documents and scores you request, and sending it to our providers for that purpose. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account.

Your content (resumes, cover letters, documents, profile) is never used to train an artificial intelligence model, either by Postulio or by its AI provider, which processes it through its application programming interface (API) without using it for training.

You represent that you hold the necessary rights to the content you upload.

5.3 Generated content

Documents that Postulio produces at your request from your content (tailored resume, cover letter, text from the tools) are yours: you may use them freely for your job search. As their author, you are also responsible for how you use them (see section 3.4).

5.4 Third-party content

Job postings belong to their authors. Postulio displays them with their source and a link to the original posting, in full or as an excerpt depending on each site’s terms. If you believe content displayed on Postulio infringes your copyright, write to legal@postulio.ca.

6. Warranties and liability

6.1 Consumers

If you are a consumer, you benefit from all the warranties and remedies the law grants you, including under Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act. No provision of these Terms excludes or limits them.

6.2 What we do not guarantee

Subject to those rights, we do not guarantee:

  • getting a job, an interview or a response from an employer;
  • the accuracy of job postings supplied by external sources;
  • the decisions and actions of employers or other third parties;
  • the accuracy, suitability or effectiveness of generated documents, which you must review and check before using them (section 3.4);
  • the correctness of scores and analyses, which are estimates.

6.3 Business customers

If you use the Service for a business (including the Organization plan) and not as a consumer, and unless otherwise agreed in writing, to the extent permitted by law: the Service is provided as is; our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim; and we are not liable for indirect losses, such as lost profits. This limitation does not apply in the case of intentional or gross fault, or to bodily or moral injury.

7. Your responsibility

To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for the consequences of your breach of these Terms or of the law, for the content you upload, including if it infringes the rights of a third party, and for the generated documents you choose to use, send or publish (section 3.4).

8. Disputes

8.1 Amicable resolution

If a dispute arises, first write to us at legal@postulio.ca describing the problem: we will look for a solution with you. This step is optional and does not prevent you from taking legal action.

8.2 Governing law and courts

These Terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of Quebec.

If you are a consumer:

  • no mandatory arbitration clause can be enforced against you;
  • you keep the right to bring or take part in a class action (section 11.1 of the Consumer Protection Act);
  • you may go to the competent court, including the Small Claims Division of the Court of Québec.

9. Closing the account

9.1 By you

You can delete your account at any time in Settings > Privacy > Delete my account. Before doing so, you can download your data in Settings > Privacy > Download my data.

Deletion is immediate and permanent: any paid subscription is cancelled, then your account and its related data are erased from our database as soon as you confirm. They cannot be recovered. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

9.2 By us

We may suspend or close your account if you materially breach these Terms, use the Service for illegal or fraudulent purposes, compromise its security or that of other people, or fail to pay. Except in an emergency or where required by law, we notify you by email first and give you an opportunity to correct the situation.

10. Changes to the Terms

We may change these Terms. For any significant change, including a price increase or a reduction of a paid plan, we send you by email, at least 30 days before it takes effect, a written notice setting out the new clause, the amended clause and the effective date.

If you refuse the change, you can cancel your subscription at no cost or penalty by notifying us no later than 30 days after it takes effect.

Minor changes (clarifications, corrections) take effect when published on this page.

11. Third-party services

Postulio relies on third-party services, including:

  • Stripe (payments);
  • an artificial intelligence provider, Anthropic (API processing, with no training on your content).

The full list of providers that process personal information is in the Privacy Policy. Links to external sites, including job posting pages, do not constitute an endorsement of their content.

12. Personal information

The processing of your personal information is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. The use of cookies is described in the Cookie Policy.

13. General provisions

  • Entire agreement: these Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy constitute the agreement between you and us regarding the Service. The Organization plan may be covered by a separate agreement.
  • Severability: if a provision is held void or unenforceable, the others remain in effect.
  • Waiver: failing to exercise a right does not waive that right.
  • Assignment: you may not assign your account. We may assign these Terms to a successor that takes over the Service, with notice to you.
  • Notices: we write to you at your account’s email address or in the app. You can write to us at legal@postulio.ca.
  • Language: these Terms are available in French and English.
